Though both metal mainstays are currently in the midst of their own headlining tours, Slayer [ tickets ] and Megadeth [ tickets ] will join forces this winter for the "American Carnage" trek of North America.

The 26-date outing, which includes six Canadian dates from the "Canadian Carnage" tour that were postponed earlier this month, kicks off Jan. 18 in Seattle and will stop by major markets from coast to coast. The current itinerary, which is shown below, currently wraps with a Feb. 23 performance in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The "American Carnage" run marks the first time the two legendary bands have toured together since 1991's "Clash of the Titans" trek. Just like the 1991 outing, Testament [ tickets ] will provide opening support on the winter excursion.

In honor of the historic tour and in light of the recession, the bands will offer a limited number of $10 tickets, the price fans paid to see the three acts in 1991. The specially priced tickets go on sale in most markets Nov. 20 via Ticketmaster. (LiveDaily is an operating unit of Ticketmaster Entertainment, which also owns Ticketmaster.)

Slayer and Megadeth will both be supporting new studio albums on the trek: Megadeth's "Endgame," which surfaced in September, and Slayer's "World Painted Blood," which hit stores Nov. 3.

Testament will also be working the road behind a new record: the forthcoming "The Formation of Damnation: Special Tour Edition," which is slated for a Feb. 23 release.
