Rosanne Cash checks 'List' for winter dates

Rosanne Cash will hit the road this winter for a few dates in support of her latest studio set, "The List," a collection featuring covers of country favorites inspired by her father, Johnny Cash.

The singer/songwriter's schedule includes a Dec. 2 date in Alexandria, VA, to go along with a pair of January shows and a Feb. 10 appearance in Iowa City, IA. Looking ahead to spring, Cash has already lined up an April 15 show in Durham, NC. Details are included below.

Cash's latest studio set, "The List," features her take on a variety of country standards, including works by The Carter Family ("Bury Me Under the Weeping Willow"), Hank Williams ("Take These Chains From My Heart") and Jimmie Rodgers ("Miss The Mississippi and You"), among others.

"When I was 18, I was on the road with my dad," the singer said in her bio. "One day, we were sitting in the tour bus, talking about songs, and he mentioned a song, and I said, 'I don't know that one.' He mentioned another one, and I said, 'I don't know that one, either.'

"Then he started to get alarmed, so he spent the rest of the day making a list on a legal pad, and at the top he put '100 Essential Country Songs.' And he handed it to me and he said, 'This is your education.'"

The album, which was produced and arranged by Grammy-winner John Leventhal (Cash's husband, who also contributes guitar work throughout), features guest appearances by Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Jeff Tweedy (Wilco) and Rufus Wainwright. The album surfaced last month.
