Howie Day sets 'Alarm' for January headlining shows

Singer/songwriter Howie Day continues to support his first album in five years with roadwork, headlining a brief run of January dates.

The trek gets underway Jan. 11 in Tucson, AZ, with Day visiting 14 cities on the outing, which runs through a Jan. 30 appearance in Chicago. Dates are below.

Day said he wrote about 30 new songs before recording "Sound the Alarm," his second release for Epic Records, which saw the light of day in September.

"I went through a pretty prolific few years," Day said during an October interview with LiveDaily. "I just wrote a bunch of songs, with a bunch of different themes. Picking out the songs for 'Sound the Alarm' came down to trying to find the winner in each category: 'What's the best break up song?' There [were], like, four of them. The other three are in the can, as they say. It's cool. I think the end result is a pretty diverse album with a lot of variety."

Day's previous studio set, "Stop All the World Now," appeared in 2003, overcoming slow initial sales to eventually reach gold certification in 2005, with the album's single "Collide" garnering significant airplay on radio following the song's appearance on several TV shows.
