First show goes off without drama
On the heels of a scuffle at Los Angeles International Airport, Axl Rose was able to get to Taipei City Stadium in time for Guns N' Roses to kick off what is expected to be a 2010 global tour. Guns N' Roses' set included seven songs from their November 2008 release "Chinese Democracy" and another dozen tunes, among them the GNR classics "Welcome to the Jungle," "Paradise City" and "November Rain."

Concerns about whether the show would take place as scheduled arose when the band had made its way to Taiwan without lead singer Axl Rose. The group did a sound check Thursday without Rose, who was still in Los Angeles. There is a 16-hour time difference between the cities that meant Rose needed to be on a plane by late Wednesday night to get to the gig on time.
Differing reports flowed out of various camps after Rose arrived at LAX and was greeted by paparazzi. One photographer told TMZ he saw Rose's female companion get into a physical fight with other photogs.
A spokesman for Rose issued a statement that the singer "was unhurt last evening when he was accosted by an unruly group of paparazzi at Los Angeles International Airport. Rose, who was about to enter a security checkpoint at LAX when the altercation took place, was approached by a group of unchecked and unruly photographers who became aggressive with the singer and female members of the traveling group."
