NFL urged to reconsider The Who's Super Bowl performance

A child-abuse prevention organization says Pete Townshend should not be allowed perform with The Who at the Super Bowl halftime show because of his 2003 child-pornography arrest, according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

A spokesperson for the Pompano Beach-based ChildAbuseWatch.net told the newspaper his organization has no problem with the band performing at the Feb. 7 game but does object to Townshend's appearance; the British guitarist pleaded guilty to accessing child pornography online following his 2003 arrest and his name subsequently was placed on a sex-offenders' watch list until 2008.

Despite the protests, the NFL reportedly is standing by its decision and The Who, with Townshend at the helm, is expected to go forward with the halftime show.
