Ted Nugent sets sights on New Year's Eve performance
Ted Nugent has lined up five year-end concerts in the Midwest, including a Dec. 31 performance at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan, according to event organizers. The New Year’s Eve gig will also feature Sammy Hagar.
The Motor City Madman is set to begin his brief tour in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Dec. 27, followed by a two-night stand at Chicago’s House of Blues on Dec. 28 and 29. A subsequent Dec. 30 show in Merrillville, Ind., is then followed by the New Year’s Eve bash. In addition to Hagar, other artists are expected to join the roster of acts performing on New Year’s Eve, according to organizers.
Tickets for the Dec. 27, Dec. 28 and Dec. 31 performances are on sale now.
Last year, Nugent performed at the Detroit Silverdome as part of a New Year’s Eve lineup that also featured Metallica, Kid Rock and Sevendust.
Earlier this year, Nugent spent several months opening for KISS on that band’s farewell tour. In August, the outspoken rocker and avid hunter was forced to bow out of a KISS performance in Houston after remarks he leveled at Latino immigrants during a performance there earlier in the year caused a backlash in the city.
Hagar is set to kick off tour of his own in Phoenix on Nov. 11. The veteran rocker will be touring in support of his latest release, “Ten 13” (Cabo Wabo/Beyond).
