A 23-year-old man is in custody in Salt Lake City after driving a truck into a crowd of pedestrians exiting Thursday night's Rolling Stones concert. AP reports that the man, who police say may have attended the concert himself, allegedly got tired of waiting for a large group of pedestrians to cross the street at a crosswalk and accelerated into the crowd, knocking one woman down and then running her over, fracturing her spine. The victim was listed in critical condition at a local hospital on Sunday.

Witnesses to the incident say that the driver, whose name was not released, was inching through the crowd and began honking his horn and revving his engine in an attempt to clear the way. When the crowd continued to flow into the crosswalk, the driver simply accelerated his engine at one point, pushing hard enough into the crowd to knock one pedestrian, Monica Monson, to the ground.

Witness Tom Hansen told AP, ''I started yelling, `Stop, she's under your truck.' At that point he gunned it, and the back wheel went over her legs.''

Hansen, a trained paramedic, and another man stayed with the victim until police arrived, the report said.

The driver fled the scene, but several witnesses wrote down his license number and police later arrested the driver at his home. The driver initially denied having been at the concert, but police found a Rolling Stones ticket stub in his pocket and a souvenir t-shirt in his truck. He was arrested for investigation of aggravated assault with a vehicle. An arraignment hearing will take place early next week.
