Briefly: Pearl Jam, Snoop, Barenaked auction, COC, Whitney, Mike Wallace sings?
Red Hot Chili Peppers will be on the bill for Pearl Jam ’s tour-ending shows on Nov. 5 and 6 in Seattle, according to Pearl Jam's Rumor Pit website. Supergrass will open on Nov. 5, and Wellwater Conspiracy will open the Nov. 6 show.
Snoop Dogg will release his fifth album, the Dr. Dre-produced “Tha Last Meal” (Priority/No Limit), on Dec. 19. The new album features guest appearances by Master P, the Eastsidaz, Nate Dogg, Eve, Kokane, Lady of Rage, MC Ren, George Clinton and others.
Drummer Reed Mullin of COC is suffering back problems, so Jimmy Bower Eyehategod will fill in during the band’s upcoming tour.
Marijuana-possession charges against Whitney Houston will be dismissed in three months if she meets undisclosed, probation-like terms, The Associated Press reported. Security officials at Hawaii's Keahole-Kona International Airport seized a bag that allegedly contained a half-ounce of marijuana during a Jan. 11 search of Houston’s baggage.
Crusty 60 Minutes reporter Mike Wallace will (possibly) show his tender side on a new “swinging big-band-style” duet with Pat Harris, a PBS researcher who records under the name Pat. [Patperiod]. The Pat.-penned and produced single, titled “The Girl (She’s Mine),” will be sold through Amazon.com beginning on Nov. 14.
Barenaked Ladies will contribute concert tickets, memorabilia and other items to a charity auction that will take place on Amazon.com from Nov. 6-17. Proceeds will go to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation in Toronto, Ontario, benefiting the facility where Barenaked Lady Kevin Hearn received a successful bone marrow transplant for treatment of leukemia in 1998.
