Steve Earle Gallery Spotlight: Seattle, WA - Jan. 22, 2010

Last month, veteran singer/songwriter Steve Earle was nominated for a Grammy Award for his lastest album, "Townes," an ode to his mentor, the late Townes Van Zandt, that scored him a No. 6 debut spot on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart last spring.

In a recent interview with Chicago Public Radio's SoundOpinions.org, Earle described hearing Van Zandt for the first time: "I knew pretty quickly I was witnessing someone who was making art at an incredibly high level and yet he wasn't making any money, but it didn't matter, he wasn't making music for the money."

The album features guest appearances by Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine) and Earle's wife, Allison Moorer . Edmonton fans can catch him tomorrow night (1/26) at the North Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, and Wednesday night (1/27) he'll be in Calgary, Alberta at Jack Singer Hall. LiveDaily photographer Elisa Sherman attended his show at the Moore Theatre in Seattle on Friday (1/22) and here are some of her shots.
