Weezer, Cowboy Junkies donate exclusive tracks to TargetCancer

Weezer , Cowboy Junkies, Ween and The Donnas are among several artists donating songs to a new download series entitled "The Right Track: Tunes To TargetCancer." The series is being launched by TargetCancer, a non-profit organization devoted to helping fund research into rare and lesser-known cancers, according to a press release.
"The Right Track," which will feature pay-what-you-wish downloads ($.99 minimum) of new and rare music, also will sponsor a series of concerts and special events with 100 percent of proceeds from all its initiatives going directly to research funding.

The initial list of artists lending songs to the cause also includes Dean and Britta, Buffalo Tom, Linda Thompson, Mike Viola, Drug Rug, The Gravel Pit and Happy Ending, with more artists to be added in the coming months.
"The Right Track: Tunes To TargetCancer" will release the music via its dedicated website.
TargetCancer was founded by the late Paul Poth, a Boston-based attorney and devout music fan. Poth suffered from hepatobiliary duct cancer, an extremely rare form of the disease for which doctors had no treatment protocol. The fact that Poth's doctors had to determine a course of treatment based on other cancers inspired Poth to create TargetCancer.
"Not one of us will escape being touched by cancer in some way," Poth's wife, TargetCancer Director and President Kristen Palma, said in a statement. "We are so grateful to all of these amazing artists for understanding this, for sharing their talents, and for joining with TargetCancer as we work towards finding a cure."
