Kenny Rogers celebrated with TV special
Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Alison Krauss, Wynonna and The Oak Ridge Boys will be among the artists celebrating Kenny Rogers ' six-decade career at a television show taping in April.
"Kenny Rogers: The First 50 Years," will be taped April 10 at Foxwoods Resort Casino's MGM Grand Theater in Nashville, according to a press release.
"When this was first proposed to me as a 50-year celebration, something about that sounded final, and I didn't want to that, so I suggested we call it 'The First 50 Years,'" Rogers said in a statement. "I will tell you this, the first 50 years TV show is gonna be awesome--the next 50 years TV show is gonna be a bitch."
Rogers has sold more than 125 million albums and has won numerous awards, including three Grammys, five Country Music Association Awards, 18 American Music Awards, eight Academy of Country Music Awards and 11 People's Choice Awards.
Details on when the special will air, as well as an announcement of more guest stars, are expected to be announced shortly.
