Frightened Rabbit plugs 'Winter' on spring trek

Indie rockers Frightened Rabbit will return to North America this spring to support a new studio album, "The Winter of Mixed Drinks."
The trek kicks off with the band's April 17 slot at the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, CA, before launching the group into headlining mode two nights later (4/19) in Tempe, AZ. The 25-city outing comes to a close May 22 in San Diego. Dates are at right.

"The Winter of Mixed Drinks," the Scottish group's third studio album, is set to surface March 9 in the US.
Vocalist/guitarist Scott Hutchinson recently told indie-music blog The Pop Cop that the new album is "about an escape and maybe even a slight breakdown. I have to say, it's semi-fictional. There's a protagonist who is possibly male but it doesn't really describe my life because if I did that it wouldn't make for an interesting album this time around as I've been quite solid and content, thankfully."
The new set was produced by Peter Katis (Guster, Mercury Rev), who also helmed the band's previous studio effort, 2008's "The Midnight Organ Fight." "Swim Until You Can't See Land," the album's first single, surfaced in November.
