Arctic Monkeys plot return to US
British alt-rockers Arctic Monkeys will return to the US this spring for a fresh slate of headlining dates in support of their latest studio album, last fall's "Humbug."
The group kicks off the 11-city trek April 1 in Miami, FL, and wraps up the somewhat brief outing two weeks later with an April 15 show in Tempe, AZ. Dates are shown at right.
Arctic Monkeys worked with co-producers James Ford (Klaxons, Last Shadow Puppets) and Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age and Them Crooked Vultures on "Humbug," the band's third studio album and the follow-up to 2007's "Favorite Worst Nightmare."
The video for Arctic Monkeys' latest single, "Cornerstone," is currently streaming at the band's MySpace page. The album's third single and leadoff track, "My Propeller," is due March 23. A 10" version of the cut featuring three additional original songs will be available beginning April 13.
Arctic Monkeys formed in Sheffield, England, in 2003, about one year after singer/guitarist Alex Turner and guitarist Jamie Cook, both teenagers at the time, received their first guitars as Christmas presents. The four-piece rock outfit released its debut album, "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not," in 2006.
