Celine Dion signs up for new three-year Vegas residency

Three years after wrapping up her record-breaking five-year run in Las Vegas, Celine Dion has announced her return to the city for another three-year residency.
Kicking off March 15 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace (a theater that was originally built specifically for Dion's first tenure at the resort), the show will feature 31 musicians, including a full orchestra and backing band, and an all-new stage show.

Tickets for the first 54 performances--an initial run that stretches through Aug. 14, 2011--go on sale Friday (2/12) at 10 a.m. PST. Prices ranges from $55-$250, and VIP packages are available through Ticketmaster. More information on tickets and specific dates for the engagement can be found at Dion's Vegas website.
"I'm coming back home to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace and I'm very excited about it," said Dion in a statement. "With the orchestra and the band, we're going to be able to perform our songs like never before.
"The repertoire is going to be extraordinary ... a mix of timeless Hollywood classics, along with all the favorites that my fans like to hear me sing. It's going to be a very beautiful show, and I think we'll be raising the bar higher than we've ever done before. There'll be some truly wonderful moments ... I can't wait!"
Dion's first Vegas show, "A New Day...," lasted from 2003 through 2007, and consisted of more than 700 shows. The extravaganza played before more than three million paid attendees over its five-year run, and ultimately grossed more than $400,000,000 in ticket sales.
Following the long engagement, Dion embarked on a year-long world tour in 2008, visiting five continents and 25 countries, and playing before another three million fans. She also completed work on a pair of studio albums, "Taking Chances" and the French-language "D'elles," both released in 2007.
More recently, the singer appeared at last month's 52nd Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, singing alongside Smokey Robinson, Usher, Jennifer Hudson and Carrie Underwood during a tribute to Michael Jackson.
Earlier this week, Dion made a surprise appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" during an appearance by The Canadian Tenors, joining the vocal group in a performance of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." The show is airing today (2/10).
