Charts: Jay-Z starts his 'Dynasty' at No. 1

Jay-Z ’s “The Dynasty: Roc La Familia 2000” (Roc-A-Fella) lands at No. 1 on the album chart this week, taking the spot away from Limp Bizkit’s “Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavored Water” (Flip/Interscope), according to industry sources. The chart-topping release from Jay-Z was joined by Top 5 debuts from Outkast, U2 and Godsmack.

"The Dynasty: Roc La Familia 2000" is the follow-up to Jay-Z’s double-platinum 1999 album, "Vol. 3: Life and Times of S. Carter." The new album's 16 tracks include guest appearances by Snoop Dogg ("Get Your Mind Right Mami"), Scarface ("This Can't Be Life") and R. Kelly ("Guilty Until Proven Innocent"). The album's first single, "I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me)," sits at No. 18 on Radio & Records’ latest urban national airplay chart, up from No. 25 the previous week.

Outkast’s “Stankonia” (LaFace/Arista) comes in at No. 2 its first week out, helped by the single “Ms. Jackson,” which jumped 27 spots in one week to wind up at No. 21 on Radio & Records’ latest urban chart. “Stankonia” is Outkast’s fourth album, and is the follow-up to the group’s double-platinum release, 1998's “Aquemini.”

U2 returns to the charts this week at No. 3 with the release of “All That You Can’t Leave Behind” (Interscope), the group's first batch of new material since 1997's "Pop" (Island), and its first release since the 1998 compilation album "Best of 1980-1990" (Island). “Beautiful Day,” the new album’s first single, is No. 1 on Radio & Records’ latest adult alternative chart.

Limp Bizkit’s “Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavored Water,” after debuting at No. 1 and staying there for two consecutive weeks, takes a tumble to land at No. 4 this week. The group is currently headlining the Anger Management tour, which also features Eminem, Papa Roach and Xzibit. Later this month, those three support acts will be replaced by DMX and Godsmack.

Speaking of Godsmack: “Awake” (Universal) the sophomore album from the Boston-based rockers, enters the chart at No. 5 this week. The group’s first album, "Godsmack," was released in 1998, and was certified quadruple-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) earlier this year for shipping over 4 million copies.

Nelly’s “Country Grammar” (Universal) slips to No. 6 this week, down from No. 3 last week. It is followed by Lenny Kravitz’ “Greatest Hits” (Virgin), which drops to No. 7 after debuting at No. 2 last week.

Baseball season has ended, and with it, so too has the Baha Men’s climb up the charts; “Who Let the Dogs Out” (S-Curve) drops from its peak position at No. 5 last week to No. 8 this week.

Behind the Baha Men is Creed’s “Human Clay” (Wind Up) at No. 9--down three spots from No. 6 last week--and Ja Rule’s “Rule 3:36” (Def Jam), down to No. 10 from No. 4 last week.

The “Charlie’s Angels” (Columbia) soundtrack, which debuted at No. 15 last week, falls just outside the Top 10 this week, landing at No. 11. Insane Clown Posse, meanwhile, enters the chart in the No. 20 and No. 21 spots with the simultaneous release of their two new albums, “Bizaar” and “Bizzar” (Island). Snoop Dogg’s “Dead Man Walking” (Death Row) debuts just behind the Clowns at No. 24.
