Wrigley Field to host Elton John, Billy Joel, Dave Matthews Band
Elton John and Billy Joel , as well as the Dave Matthews Band , are expected to perform this summer at Chicago's Wrigley Field despite concerns expressed by the Lake View neighborhood in past years, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Alderman Tom Tunney reportedly plans to introduce an "exception" to the Chicago Cubs night-game ordinance at a City Council meeting, which will allow the concerts to go forward.
According to the Sun-Times report, last summer, the Cubs held an unprecedented three concerts in one week at Wrigley field: two by John and Joel and one by Rascal Flatts. At the time, Tunney promised concerned neighbors that, if things didn't go well, there would be no more concerts.
This week, Tunney reportedly said the three-concert experiment was so successful that it's worth repeating.
John and Joel reportedly are tentatively scheduled to perform at Wrigley Field on July 7. Matthews is expected to headline Friday and Saturday night concerts in September; the dates have not been finalized.
