Jon Bon Jovi answers President Obama's call to service

Jon Bon Jovi will take President Obama's United We Serve initiative to venues across the country during his band's upcoming "The Circle World Tour."
At each stop on Bon Jovi's US tour, the band, in collaboration with the Corporation for National and Community Service, will show a concert video that encourages fans to volunteer, according to a press release. The video will debut tonight (3/4) in front of a sold-out audience at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Bon Jovi also filmed a 60-second Public Service Announcement for television that encourages fans to serve the nation by volunteering. The PSA, which includes images of President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama participating in service projects, will be distributed nationally to broadcast stations and used in online promotions.
Both the video and PSA will feature Bon Jovi calling on Americans to use their energy and passion to help tackle the nation's challenges. The clips will feature music from some of Bon Jovi's hit songs interspersed with the artist's direct call to service. "The reality is--we're all in this together," Bon Jovi says. "It's time for you to raise your hand, go to Serve.gov and get involved in something you believe in."
The video and PSA--which can be seen at Serve.gov--are part of the Corporation for National and Community Service's broader campaign to encourage more Americans to volunteer through the United We Serve initiative.
In addition to the concert video, local volunteers with non-profit organizations and members of the Corporation's service programs will distribute information about the United We Serve initiative at booths inside the concert venues in select cities. The volunteers will discuss with concertgoers how they can engage in service and find volunteer opportunities in their local community. The on-site volunteers also will be distributing information about Bon Jovi's Soul Foundation, which is a non-profit dedicated to bringing about positive change and helping the lives of those in need "one soul at a time," according to the organization's website.
