Backstreet Boys post new material on Internet

Backstreet Boys , whose new album “Black & Blue” (Jive) is scheduled to hit stores on Nov. 21, are hyping the release with an Internet-based, multi-media preview of material from the disc, according to the group’s official website.

New song “The Call” can be downloaded in its entirety at Jive's “Black & Blue” multi-media Internet showcase. The song is being offered in both Liquid Audio and Windows Media formats, and the file will expire on the album’s release date, according to the site.

Streaming audio samples for the tracks “Get Another Boyfriend,” “I Promise You (With Everything I Am)” and “Time” are also featured on the showcase, as are streaming video files of a message from the band members and an excerpt from the video for the album’s first single, “Shape of My Heart.” The video is currently No. 1 on MTV’s “Total Request Live," and the song itself is No. 8 on the latest Radio & Records’ pop chart, which measures national radio airplay.

In addition to the showcase, the band also plans to precede the new album’s release date with a special world premiere webcast on Nov. 19, according to the SFX Entertainment website. The webcast is being billed as an “exclusive interview special” that will feature the group singing, dancing and playing music from “Black & Blue” in front of a live audience at a “secret Hollywood location.”

“Black & Blue” is the follow-up to “Millennium,” which was certified in July by the Recording Industry Association of America for shipping more than 12 million copies since its 1998 release.

Backstreet Boys plan to open a world tour in early 2001.
