Hot Chip adds gigs to US run behind 'One Life Stand'

British electro-pop group Hot Chip have added more East Coast shows to its forthcoming North American tour in support of its recently released effort, "One Life Stand."

The band will kick off the short outing with an April 16 show in Oakland, CA, before heading east. The trek, which is slated to wrap up with an April 25 performance in Philadelphia, now includes a second night in New York City (4/22-4/23) and a DJ set in Washington, DC, April 24. The full schedule is shown at right.

English dream-pop trio The xx will provide opening support on the outing.

"One Life Stand," Hot Chip's fourth full-length studio album, hit shelves early last month. The set peaked at the top of Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart and at No. 11 on the UK Albums Chart.

"We never have any plan when we record," singer/percussionist Joe Goddard explained at the band's website. "Things happen and we try to follow the thread wherever it leads.

"People might be surprised by a song like 'I Feel Better' coming from us. It's kind of a big commercial song that came from nowhere. We decided to embrace that instead of discarding it on this album."

The album's second single, "I Feel Better," is slated for a digital release April 20. The track is currently streaming at the band's MySpace page.
