Billy Idol debuts new band in Russia

Billy Idol will debut a new band this summer when he launches his upcoming world tour in Russia. Idol will be joined on June 5 in Moscow by longtime guitarist Steve Stevens, bassist Stephen McGrath and keyboardist Derek Sherinian, according to a press release. His new band also will feature guitarist Billy Morrison and drummer Jeremy Colson.

In addition to Moscow, the rocker will play St. Petersburg (6/7) before heading to Europe for a tour that includes a mix of headlining gigs and summer festival stops. The Malmo Sweden Rock Festival, the T Music Festival in Croatia, and the Freeload Festival in Bremen, Germany, are among the festival dates on Idol's current itinerary. He also will make his second appearance at the Download Festival at Donington Park in his native UK.

Idol is expected to include early Generation X cuts in his set, along with his new wave/punk hits, including "White Wedding," "Hot In The City" and "Eyes Without A Face." The rocker's music has reached the new generation with the inclusion of "Rebel Yell" on 2008's "Guitar Hero World Tour" game. In 2009, Idol released his first live DVD, "In Super Overdrive Live," which was filmed at the Congress Theatre in Chicago.

Idol's upcoming tour, dubbed Billy Idol with Steve Stevens, will head to North America following the last European date, July 11 at the Bospop Festival in Weert, Holland.
