Robbie Williams promises awards performance despite poor health
LONDON--Robbie Williams' record label issued a statement on Monday (11/13), saying that Williams is determined to perform at the upcoming MTV Europe Music Awards in Sweden on Thursday (11/16) despite being ill.
According to the statement from EMI, "Robbie Williams has been directed by doctors to take time out of his schedule to rest. Suffering from severe gastroenteritis and exhaustion, Robbie is however determined to perform as planned at Thursday's MTV awards."
The ex-Take That member, who is nominated for five awards, is tipped to perform the song "Kids" as a duet with Australian pop star Kylie Minogue.
Williams’ MTV Europe Awards appearance follows his recent U.K. arena tour, which took place in October and November. His latest album, "Sing When You’re Winning," is currently at No. 13 on the U.K. album chart, having sold over 900,000 copies and being certified triple platinum. His and Minogue’s duet "Kids" is currently on the singles chart at No. 21, having been released five weeks ago.
