'Weird Al' Yankovic takes 'Leaks' on the road
Musical comic "Weird Al" Yankovic will spend part of the summer touring the nation behind his latest effort, last year's "Internet Leaks."
The award-winning performer will kick off the run with a June 16 show in Rehoboth Beach, DE, followed by 12 shows spread across the country. The theater and fairground trek includes a June 29 gig at Milwaukee's Summerfest. The full schedule is shown at right.
Yankovic released "Internet Leaks," a five-song EP, last summer. The set, which received a Grammy nomination for Best Comedy Album, includes "Whatever You Like," a parody of the hit T.I. song of the same name.
"The songs on 'Internet Leaks' will all show up again on my next full album release, whenever that is," Yankovic posted last summer at his blog. There is still no confirmed title or release date for the forthcoming set.
Last fall, Yankovic also unveiled "The Essential 'Weird Al' Yankovic," a two-disc, 38-track collection, which contains some of his biggest hits, including "Eat It," "White & Nerdy" and "Smells Like Nirvana," among others.
In January, Yankovic revealed in a blog posting that he had signed a deal with Cartoon Network.
"Without going into too much detail, the folks at Cartoon Network decided that they liked me and wanted me to provide some content for them--series, features, animation, live-action...they were open to anything," Yankovic explained. "The first thing I'm on track to do for them is, in fact, a live-action feature film."
No further details about the project have been released.
