Alice in Chains, Deftones, Mastodon unleash 'Blackdiamondskye'

Alice in Chains will join forces with Deftones and Mastodon for a fall outing they've dubbed "Blackdiamondskye," a combination of the groups' latest releases.
The trio of bands will begin the rock outing with a Sept. 16 performance in Chicago, followed by arena shows in 12 cities throughout the nation. One Canadian concert--Sept. 18 in Toronto--is also on the books.

Meanwhile, Alice in Chains has a few dates left on its spring run, which continues tomorrow (4/30) in Birmingham and wraps next month. The group is also booked to play a July 18 set at the annual Rock Fest in Cadott, WI. The full schedule is shown at right.
Tickets for AIC's spring dates are currently available at the band's website, and fans can purchase tickets for the fall leg beginning May 15 via Live Nation.
Alice in Chains released "Black Gives Way to Blue," the band's fourth studio set, in September. The album peaked at No. 5 on The Billboard 200 and features the single "Check My Brain," which earned the group a Grammy nomination for Best Hard Rock Performance.
The Deftones will support the band's long-awaited new album, "Diamond Eyes," on the road trip. The set, the group's sixth release and first since 2006's "Saturday Night Wrist," will hit retailers May 8.
Mastodon unveiled "Crack the Skye," the prog-metal outfit's sixth full-length album, last spring. The effort, which marks the group's highest selling album to date, debuted at No. 11 on The Billboard 200.
