West Coast tour plans emerge for Billy Joel, Elton John
After weeks of unconfirmed rumors, piano-playing pop singers Billy Joel and Elton John have removed the wraps from their initial plans to co-headline a North American tour in 2001.
Joel’s camp unveiled 11 West Coast dates via the artist’s official website on Wednesday (11/22). Ticket on-sale information for the shows was not immediately available.
More dates will be announced soon, according to a tour announcement from Joel’s label, Columbia Records.
Like the past concert pairings of Joel and John, this outing will be dubbed the Face to Face Tour. The musicians first toured the U.S. together in 1995 and 1996, and they took the tour overseas in 1998.
The New York Daily News reported two weeks ago that Joel and John were in the planning stages of a joint American tour. No official tour announcement came from either performer's camp until now, but a limited, Internet-only ticket pre-sale for the duo’s stop in Tacoma, Wash., began last week.
