Beautiful South to continue tour despite singer's departure

LONDON--The Beautiful South will honor its upcoming U.K. arena tour despite the departure of singer Jacqui Abbot. Abbot, who abruptly abandoned the group's American tour in October, confirmed on Tuesday (11/21) that she and the band have officially parted ways.

A spokesperson for the Beautiful South told LiveDaily: “Jacqui has not told us anything more than that she left for personal reasons. The Beautiful South’s December shows will be unaffected by her departure. When she left in the middle of the American dates, they did the songs without her and it worked well, so that’s what they plan to do for the rest of the tour.”

Abbot joined the Beautiful South in 1994 following the departure of the group’s original female singer, Briana Corrigan. She first sang on the group’s album from the same year, “Miaow,” as well as its albums “Blue Is the Colour," “Quench” and “Painting It Red," the latter of which was released in 2000.
