Mickey Hart, Wyclef, Our Lady Peace Added To Woodstock Lineup
Wyclef Jean & the Refugee Allstars, former Grateful Dead member Mickey Hart 's Planet Drum ensemble, Canada's Our Lady Peace and Jamiroquai have been added to the lineup for the three-day Woodstock festival set for July 23rd - 25th in Rome, NY. Concert / camping tickets for the event are scheduled to go on sale Sunday.
The newest round of acts will join an already-announced lineup that includes Alanis Morissette, Los Lobos, Aerosmith, the Dave Matthews Band, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jewel, Rage Against The Machine, Fatboy Slim, Live and Metallica. A total of 35 acts are currently confirmed for the main stages at the event, with some additions still possible.
Those unable to attend the event in person will reportedly have pay-per-view and, possibly, standard broadcast viewing options, according to a Monday (4/19) report in Cable World. Negotiations are reportedly underway for a scaled arrangement that would enable viewer's to purchase either a full 62-hour broadcast for $59.95 or any one of the three days for $29.95.
Metropolitan Entertainment Senior VP Jeff Rowland told the cable industry magazine, ''We also have bonafide offers from the broadcast side, but that's for a truncated highlights show, and have talked to MTV and VH1. But cable pay-per-view is the right place to present the entire event in its first window.''
1994's Woodstock event in Saugerties, NY reportedly generated pay-per-view revenues of about $10 million.
Tickets for travel packages including air and bus transportation went on sale last weekend, and tickets for three-day access to the festival, which include camping access, will go on sale Sunday. A statement from event organizers said that tickets would be available through outlets and phones in the Northeast US and in Canada as well as online.
