Briefly: AOL-TW, ODB, OutKast, Big Star

Reuters reports that AOL and Time Warner are prepared to go to court to fight federal regulators who say that the two corporations can't merge if they're not going to allow AOL's rivals access to its news and entertainment content.

Ol' Dirty Bastard was denied bail following his arrest in Philadelphia--click here for that story--and will be held until his extradition hearing, The Associated Press reported. Both California and New York have warrants out for him.

From Joshua Clover's article on OutKast in GQ: "An astonishing fact about this American life is that a band can move millions of records and remain underground, essentially unknown to the mainstream (read: white) audience. You don't need to cross over anymore to go platinum ..." According to the article, OutKast's first album went platinum without airplay.
