An extremely busy weekend is ahead on the concert-ticketing front as the first round of tickets for Backstreet Boys [ tickets ]’ North American tour go on sale.

The last time Backstreet Boys toured North America, most tickets were snapped up in an hour, so it’s likely that the demand for tickets will again exceed supply in many markets. It’s also likely that extra shows will be added in some markets as initial dates sell out.

Those who try to purchase tickets by telephone should expect to endure some busy signals, and Internet ticket sales will probably be slowed by the huge numbers of fans who are likely to inundate the network when the large blocks of tickets hit the market. Long lines are probable at many box offices and ticketing outlets.

Depending on the market, ticket sales will begin at 9, 9:30 or 10 a.m. on Saturday (12/2). A city-by-city rundown of upcoming Backstreet Boys [ tickets ] concerts and on-sale dates follows. California on-sale dates have not been announced.

Elton John [ tickets ] and Billy Joel [ tickets ] will open their latest Face to Face tour with a Jan. 19 performance at San Diego State University's Cox Arena. Tickets go on sale on Saturday (12/2) at 10 a.m.

Chicago [ tickets ]’s tour will touch down in Florida in February. Tickets for shows in Orlando and Miami go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday (12/1); tickets for the tour’s Tampa stop hit the market at 10 a.m. on Saturday (12/2).
