Briefly: Springsteen, Berry, McClinton, SFX
The NAACP gave Bruce Springsteen a humanitarian award on Sunday (12/4), the Associated Press reported.
AP also reported that Chuck Berry earned a Kennedy Center Honor on Sunday (12/3). The ceremony will air on Dec. 27 on CBS.
Delbert McClinton will release his next album, "Nothing Personal," on March 6. The album features a duet with Iris DeMent
"Live! At the Fillmore," featuring acts performing at San Francisco's Fillmore auditorium, will air on syndicated television beginning Dec. 29.
The language of public relations is still fun on occasion:
SFX, the world's leading producer and promoter of live entertainment, announced today that it has agreed in principle [italics ours] with The Coca-Cola Company to form a marketing alliance that will designate Coca-Cola as the official non-alcoholic, non-malt beverage of SFX in North America. [What it lacks in catchiness, it makes up for in specificity.] ..."We are pleased The Coca-Cola Company recognizes the unique benefits of live entertainment as a platform through which to connect directly with consumers," said Paula Balzer, president of marketing for SFX. [This part is just fun to say out loud:] "At SFX, we believe 'It's better live,' and starting today we are very happy to tell the world it's even better live when you are enjoying an event with a Coca-Cola product in your hand!"
