Sammy Hagar plots 2001 tour dates
Sammy Hagar has lined up tour dates for the next leg of his Cabo Wabo Birthday Bash tour, according to his official website. The veteran rocker is touring in support of his latest release, “Ten 13” (Cabo Wabo/Beyond).
After spending most of December on break, Hagar’s tour is set to kick back into gear on New Year’s Eve in Detroit. Thirteen January dates have been added to the roster, comprising stops in the Midwest and the Northeast through the middle of the month, followed by a handful of stops in the South and Southwest before the tour returns to the West Coast late in the month.
Included in the new batch of dates is a Jan. 26 stop in Las Vegas, where Hagar is slated to perform at the Thomas and Mack arena. Local radio station 92.3 KOMP--who is billing the event as the station’s annual birthday party--has purchased every ticket to the concert and is giving them all away to its listeners, according to the station’s official website.
A two-night stand in Kelseyville, Calif., on Jan. 27 and 28 follows the Vegas performance, and is the last of the dates on Hagar’s current tour itinerary, according to his official website.
A webcast of Hagar’s Nov. 18 performance in Chicago is planned for early 2001, according to a press release from digital entertainment company MCY.com, Inc. Exclusive off-stage footage and interviews will be included in the webcast, the release said. A date has not been set for the webcast.
The Cabo Wabo Birthday Bash tour began on Phoenix on Nov. 11 after the original six dates were postponed when it was discovered that several venues could not accommodate the tour’s stage production.
“Ten 13,” Hagar’s third solo effort since parting ways with Van Halen in 1996, was released on Oct. 24.
