Marilyn Manson cancels concert due to drummer's injury

Marilyn Manson cancelled its Tuesday night (12/5) show at the Toledo Sports Arena in Toledo, Ohio, due to drummer Ginger Fish’s recent collarbone injury, according to the group’s official website. The cancellation came just 10 minutes before the doors at the venue were scheduled to open, according to the Toledo Blade.

The band was at the venue, the stage was set and about 150 fans were in line for the general-admission show when the band told concert officials that Fish was unable to perform, according to the Toledo Blade report.

Refunds are being offered at the point of purchase, the newspaper said.

Fish suffered a hairline fracture to his collarbone last month during Manson’s Nov. 25 performance in New York City when he jumped over his drum set and fell from the drum riser. The drummer performed in five shows following the injury. Tuesday night’s (12/5) cancellation is the tour’s first.

The group resumed its tour as scheduled in Columbus, Ohio, on Thursday night (12/7), and the outing is set to continue on Friday night (12/8) in Cleveland.

In related news, the Toledo Blade reported on Thursday (12/7) that hundreds of students who attend Toledo-area Bowsher High School stayed home on Wednesday (12/6) after hearing rumors of violent threats that surfaced in the wake of a Tuesday (12/5) incident involving two “Goth” students who were planning to attend Manson’s concert.

According to the report, two female students, dressed in “Gothic” clothing and carrying balloons that read “Welcome, Marilyn,” began defacing a bible and eating pages from the book in the school’s cafeteria during lunch. A brief confrontation ensued between the Goths and some other students, after which rumors of a “hit list” that allegedly belonged to the Goths, and rumors of other violent threats, spread throughout the school. About 100 students subsequently left the school early on Tuesday, and about 300 to 400 students skipped school on Wednesday (12/6) because of concerns over the rumors, the report said.

Three “menacing reports” were filed with Toledo police, but no criminal charges have been filed against any students and no disciplinary action has been taken, according to the Toledo Blade.

Marilyn Manson is touring in support of its latest release, “Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death)” (Nothing/Interscope).
