U.K. Charts: Beatles hold No. 1, Eminem single edges out Bob the Builder
LONDON--The Beatles retained the top postition on the Official U.K. Album Chart for the fourth week in a row, according to figures released Sunday (12/10). The 60s icons have sold more than 1.5 million copies of the compilation LP “1” to date. Westlife’s “Coast to Coast” remained at No. 2 for another week and Texas’ “Greatest Hits” stayed at No. 3.
Robbie Williams’ “Sing When You’re Winning” held fast to No. 4 and Craig David’s “Born To Do It” was at No. 5. There were no new entries in the Top 10 this week, although S Club 7’s second album, “7,” re-entered the chart at No. 7 following the release of their latest single “Never Had a Dream Come True” and news that they are to tour next year.
In fact, this week’s album chart saw no new entries at all, although Queen’s “Greatest Hits I, II and III” re-entered the chart at No. 70 and Green Day’s “Warning” re-entered at No. 75 following their arena concerts last week.
Eminem took the No. 1 spot on the Official U.K. Singles Chart with his new release “Stan." He narrowly beat out children’s television character Bob the Builder to the top of the chart as Bob’s song “Can We Fix It” was the second biggest selling single this week.
As a result of the two new entries, S Club 7 fell from No. 1 to No. 3, Destiny’s Child fell to No. 4 and Leann Rimes fell to No. 5. Britney Spears was the third highest new entry of the week at No. 7 with “Stronger,” and the Wyclef Jean-Mary J. Blige track “911” debuted at No. 10.
