Steve Earle sets initial 2001 tour dates

Steve Earle has lined up a three-week run of concerts for January and February as he continues to lend support to his latest release, “Transcendental Blues.”

The critically acclaimed songwriter and musician has been touring on-and-off with his band the Dukes since July. Earle and the Dukes are currently on the road with the Dave Matthews Band, serving as a support act.

Last week, Earle concluded a run of five appearances on the Emmylou Harris-led Concerts for a Landmine Free World tour. The shows benefited the non-profit Campaign for a Landmine Free World, and also featured Bruce Cockburn, Nanci Griffith, Mary Chapin Carpenter and John Prine, among others.

Country-folk singer-songwriter Stacey Earle--who is Steve’s younger sister--will be opening act for the January and February dates. Stacey Earle debuted with the 1998 album “Simple Gearle,” and issued a follow-up titled “Dancin’ with Them That Brung Me” in May of 2000.
