Vertical Horizon to headline winter 2001 tour
Vertical Horizon , a band that emerged from the Boston music scene in 1992 but scored its first major hit this year, has set plans to top the bill of a winter 2001 club tour. Sister Hazel, another acoustic band championed by adult alternative radio, will support.
Prior to the club tour, Vertical Horizon will conclude 2000 with a series of radio festival appearances and a date in support of Collective Soul . The group will also headline a New Year’s Eve gig at Walt Disney World, near Orlando, Fla.
The 1999 Vertical Horizon album “Everything You Want” was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in July of 2000. The album’s success was buoyed by the slow-burning title track, which clawed its way to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart after a 26-week climb.
That success helped Vertical Horizon to claim two Billboard Music Awards--Adult Top 40 Artist Of The Year and Adult Top 40 Track Of The Year (for "Everything You Want”)--earlier this month.
Besides its support slot on Collective Soul’s tour, Vertical Horizon has also opened shows for Dave Matthews Band, Third Eye Blind and others this year.
