Briefly: The Grammys, Kid Rock, Eminem, Xzibit
The Beach Boys, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr., Bob Marley and the Who will be honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards at the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony in February, the Recording Academy announced.
Kid Rock plans to donate his profits from his Jan. 21 tour stop in Virginia to the Navy Marine Corp Relief Society. The money will aid the families of the crew members killed in the recent terrorist attack on the USS Cole, according to Atlantic Records. In addition, military personnel and their families can purchase tickets at half-price.
Eminem’s Friday (12/15) court appearance in Michigan, where he was due to answer to assault charges stemming from two separate incidents that occurred in June, has been pushed back to Feb. 13, Sonicnet reported. The controversial rapper--whose real name is Marshall Mathers--has been offered a plea bargain that reportedly would result in the charge from one incident being dismissed in exchange for a guilty plea for the other charge, which would carry an unspecified jail term.
Xzibit is finishing work on a DVD titled “Restless Exposed,” which will be released early next year, Billboard reported. The DVD will contain behind-the-scenes footage and candid interviews with Dr. Dre, Limp Bizkit, Snoop Dogg, and others. The rapper shot the footage with his own camera during his stints on this year's "Up In Smoke" and "Anger Management" tours.
