Everclear plots return to the road in February

Everclear ’s first headlining tour of North America in three years is scheduled to get underway in February, according to the band’s official website. The grunge rock band, which emerged from the Portland music scene in the early 1990s, has been warming up with a series of radio station festival appearances in December.

Fewer than a dozen dates are currently on Everclear’s 2001 itinerary, but additional North American dates are expected to surface in the coming weeks.

The second Everclear release of 2000, “Songs from an American Movie, Vol. Two: Good Time for a Bad Attitude” (Capitol) hit stores in November. The album is a power chord-driven companion to the softer “Songs from an American Movie, Volume One: Learning How to Smile,” which was released in August.

The band’s previous release, “So Much for the Afterglow,” was released in 1997 and has sold more than 2 million copies to date, according to the Recording Industry Association of America. “Songs from an American Movie, Vol. One” has been certified gold by the RIAA, representing U.S. sales of more than 500,000 copies.
