The flow of new releases has slowed considerably as the industry winds down for the holidays, which clears the field this week for the latest material from two big-name rappers, one compilation album and one soundtrack.

Snoop Dogg leads the pack with “Tha Last Meal” (No Limit/Priority), the follow-up to 1999’s “No Limit Top Dogg.” The new album features Snoop collaborating once again with Dr. Dre, as well as with Eve, The Eastsidaz, Doggie’s Angels and NWA, according to the album’s official website.

To mark the album’s release, Snoop is scheduled to appear on MTV’s “Total Request Live” on Tuesday afternoon (12/19), according to MTV. The rapper also has a record-signing scheduled that same day at the HMV record store in Harlem, N.Y.

Last week, Snoop announced plans to promote “Tha Last Meal” with a brief string of club dates this month. That jaunt gets underway on Thursday night (12/20) in Boston. A full-fledged tour in support of the album is expected early next year, according to the rapper’s spokesperson.

Lil’ Wayne launches “Lights Out” (Cash Money/Universal) this week. The album is the follow-up to his platinum-selling, 1999 debut, “The Block is Hot,” which spawned the hit single of the same name.

“Lights Out” was produced by Cash Money producer Mannie Fresh, and features fellow Cash Money crewmembers Juvenile, B.G., Turk and Baby, according to Cash Money’s official website.

Lil’ Wayne is currently traveling with the rest of the Cash Money Millionaires, Lil’ Kim and Nelly, all of whom make up the Jingle Ballers Jam hip-hop tour. That outing is scheduled to wrap-up on Friday night (12/22) in California.

Dubbed QB’s Finest, the assemblage of rappers comprises former residents of the Queensbridge Houses housing project, according to Columbia Records.

An online listening party is set for Monday night (12/18), according to the album’s official website.
