Briefly: K-Ci & Jo-Jo, Paisley, Wyclef, rumors true and false
According to several published reports, a member of K-Ci & Jo-Jo whipped It out onstage at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium on Saturday (12/16). The L.A. Times and Allstar name K-Ci as the exposer; others don't seem to be certain.
Brad Paisley will become a member of the Grand Ole Opry on Feb. 17.
When we reported on Wyclef Jean 's Jan. 19 show at Carnegie Hall, we didn't realize that he would be the first rapper to headline that venue, as the Source reported.
Webnoize reported on SunnComm, a company that claims to have developed a CD from which one can't rip an MP3. Webnoize's newsletter opines, "SunnComm's idea won't work. Nobody ever made more money from a product by making it less functional -- not to mention increasing production costs."
So Ticketmaster-Citysearch, which owns LiveDaily, had its Christmas party at L.A.'s House of Blues, right? And a rumor raged through the company that U2 would be performing that night--"No, seriously, I heard they're going to rehearse for their tour." Turned out to be a disco tribute band.
In semi-related news, Weezer apparently tried to play a couple of "secret" shows in L.A. last week--fake name, the whole thing--but word got out and both venues were packed.
