From a press release:
Columbia Records artist Jessica Simpson ... has signed with Redken--a leading manufacturer of professional salon products and a division of L'Oréal--to act as celebrity spokesperson.... True to her self and to her heart, Jessica understands the relationship of aesthetics to spirituality. "I am a strong believer in the beauty of one's own soul and try to express this through my music," she says, before adding with a twinkle and a laugh, "Of course, being in the public eye, I have the added pressure of having to look good, too." ...
"There is such a strong connection between beauty, fashion and celebrity in our culture," explains Shelley Saville, senior vice president, U.S. marketing, Redken. "Redken has built a strong foundation in beauty through its technologically advanced products, and in fashion with its involvement with editorial hairstylists [?] and the 7th on Sixth fashion shows. Our partnership with Jessica Simpson is the celebrity component needed to complete the equation."
