Briefly: U2, another dot-demise, AMA vs. 'Jazz,' MTV's warning to idiots
Though tour organizers (and we) won't vouch for its accuracy, the U2 fan site U2tour.com has posted what it claims are tour and ticket on-sale dates for the first leg of U2's arena tour. Billboard Online, meanwhile, reports that the tour's first seven dates will be: March 24 in Sunrise, Fla., March 29 in Charlotte, N.C., March 30 in Atlanta, April 2 in Houston, April 3 in Dallas, April 6 in Denver, and April 9 in Calgary, Alberta.
For what it's worth, both sites agree on the first seven dates. An official announcement is expected on Tuesday (1/9).
Country music website CountryCool.com will shut down on Jan. 31.
Big band leader Les Brown died on Thursday (1/4), according to published reports. He and his Band of Renown were best known for "Sentimental Journey." According to L.A. radio station KLAC, Brown discovered singer Doris Day.
The American Music Awards are tonight (1/8), and so is the first installment of Ken Burns' "Jazz" on PBS.
From MTV.com:
MTV insists that our viewers do not send in any home footage of themselves or others being jackasses. We will not open or view any submissions, so don’t even bother.
