String Cheese Incident reveals winter tour plans

The String Cheese Incident will head out on a month-long winter tour of the western U.S. and Canada in February, according to the groups publicist. The outing kicks off with a three-night stand in the groups native Colorado on Feb. 15-17.

Tickets for the tour, dubbed the Winter Carnival 2001, go on sale exclusively through the bands own SCI Ticketing service on Tuesday (1/9), according to the groups official website. The tickets will be offered through Ticketmaster and other ticketing outlets beginning on Saturday (1/13). (LiveDaily is a publication of Ticketmaster Online-Citysearch.)

In addition to offering its own ticket service, the String Cheese Incident will also be offering travel packages to all of its shows through a travel agency. Travel packages for the Winter Carnival 2001 will become available on Tuesday (1/9) as well, according to the groups website.

The String Cheese Incident ended 2000 in Oregon at the Portland Convention Center, where the group held a three-day festival titled 2001: A String Cheese Odyssey on Dec. 29-31. The festival followed a fall tour that saw the group visit much of the eastern U.S.

The band is planning to release its next studio album in May, with Steve Berlin (Los Lobos) producing. Meanwhile, Pura Vida, a documentary of the groups performance in Costa Rica last year, is currently on sale through the bands official website.
