The new year has yet to produce any chart-busting releases, as evidenced by this week’s list of Top 10 albums, a group led for the sixth straight week by a collection of hits from the Beatles. No newcomers enter the pack, and the rest of last week’s Top 10 albums either stay put or merely trade places with each other.

The Beatles [ tickets ] “1” (Capitol), now in its ninth week on the charts, has spent a total of seven weeks at No. 1. The album debuted in the top spot in November, was pushed down to No. 2 for two weeks courtesy of Backstreet Boys’ latest, and then returned to No. 1 thanks to brisk holiday sales. And while Backstreet’s “Black & Blue” (Jive) has since slid down the charts--it is at No. 18 this week--a compilation of 27 No. 1 hits from a British quartet that disbanded some 30 years ago is still dominating U.S. album sales, according to industry sources.

Like “1,” Shaggy [ tickets ]’s “Hotshot” (MCA) and the “Now That’s What I Call Music Vol. 5” (Columbia) compilation both stay put this week at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. Creed [ tickets ]’s “Human Clay” (Wind Up), meanwhile, moves up two spots to No. 4. The album has been riding the charts for 68 weeks.

Limp Bizkit’s “Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavored Water” (Flip/Interscope) stands firm at No. 5, as does Outkast's “Stankonia” (La Face/Arista) at No. 7. Those two albums sandwich Sade’s “Lovers Rock” (Epic), which continues its climb up the charts; it is up two places to No. 6 this week from No. 8 last, and was at No. 10 two weeks back.

Heading down the charts is “Tha Last Meal” (Priority), the latest release from Snoop Dogg [ tickets ]; the album drops from No. 4 last week to No. 8.

Battling it out for the final two places in the Top 10 are Dido [ tickets ]’s “No Angel” (Arista)--which surged into the Top 10 for the first time since its 1999 release last week--and Lenny Kravitz’s “Greatest Hits” (Virgin). The two swap their positions from last week, placing Kravitz’s “Greatest Hits” at No. 9 and “No Angel” at No. 10.

The only new album to debut in the Top 50 this week is the soundtrack for the HBO original television series “Oz” (Avatar), which clocks in at No. 42.
