ODB Cleared In New York Shooting Incident
Rapper Ol' Dirty Bastard said on Thursday that he planned to sue New York police after a grand jury ruled against indicting the rapper on charges of attempted murder, weapons possession, and assault. The charges were filed by police after a January 15th incident in which police alleged that the 30-year-old rapper fired on them after a traffic stop.
Following the incident, ODB, whose real name is Russell Tyrone Jones, was arrested and stayed in jail for nearly a week while bail money was raised. Police failed to produce the weapon that they alleged the rapper used to fire at them, and paraffin tests intended to determine the presence of gunpowder on the rapper and his vehicle proved inconclusive.
Police turned their findings over to a grand jury, who on Wednesday (2/3) declined to pursue the matter against the rapper. At a Thursday press conference, the rapper vowed to pursue legal action against the police department.
ODB is due in California courts next week to answer to charges of terrorist death threats in two separate incidents -- one involving security guards at the House of Blues in West Hollywood and another involving a threat against a former girlfriend.
