Kid Rock adds dates to 'History of Rock' tour
Kid Rock ’s 2001 tour continues to take shape with the recent addition of nine more dates. Rock and his Twisted Brown Trucker band are touring in support of last year’s “History of Rock,” which features both new and old material from the Detroit rapper.
Seven new February stops and the first pair of March dates have been added to an itinerary that was first announced last month. More dates will be added soon, according to tour organizers.
Fuel and Buckcherry are opening for Rock on all of the tour’s currently scheduled stops, which are now confirmed through March 3. The outing began in South Carolina on Jan. 17, the rapper's birthday.
Tickets for most dates are on sale now, including Thursday night’s (1/25) stop in Columbus, Ohio. Female fans who buy a ticket for that show can get a second ticket for free, according to a special promotion dubbed “The Babe Rebate” that is posted on Rock’s official website.
“Kid Rock is looking for The finest ladies to be out in full force ... Scantly Clad [sic] and ready to party,” reads the promotion announcement. “Fellas, if you want in on this offer, then get a lady friend to hook you up on the 2 for 1 ticket deal. Then again, if your game is pretty sad, have your mom hook you up, because the house is going to be full of ladies.”
Earlier this month, Rock received the American Music Award in the Favorite Male Artist--Rock or Pop category. His 1998, breakthrough album, “Devil Without a Cause,” has shipped 9 million copies since its release, according to the Recording Industry Association of America.
“History of Rock” was released in May 2000, and was certified double-platinum in July by the RIAA for shipping 2 million copies.
