Solo trek plotted by Phish's Trey Anastasio
While his jam-rock band Phish is on hiatus, guitarist-vocalist Trey Anastasio is heading out on his second solo tour, hitting 10 East Coast cities in late February and early March.
Anastasio is bringing on tour a five-piece band--bassist Tony Markellis and drummer Russ Lawton, both of whom went out on his last solo tour in 1999, along with saxophonist Dave "The Truth" Grippo, trumpeter Jennifer Hartswick and trombonist Andy Moroz.
Tickets for many shows will go on sale on Friday (2/2), and there will be a four-ticket limit per person. Like Phishs performances, Anastasios solo shows will be friendly to tapers. Detailed information about the bands taping policy is available on Phishs official website.
Phish announced last summer that it was planning an extended break following its tour's conclusion in October. The group was recently nominated for two Grammys, Best Rock Instrumental Performance and Best Boxed Set Packaging.
Last May, Anastasio, drummer Stewart Copeland and bassist Les Claypool played the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival under the name Oysterhead.
