Briefly News and Comment: Eminem and Elton
Plus: Bob Dole vs. Napster, Johnny Cash hospitalized, DMX shrugs of jail sentence.
So, two or three weeks ago, liveDaily Briefly predicted that Eminem would attend the Grammys. To some of you, that was a gimme, and to others of you, it was unthinkable.
Well, not only is he attending the Grammys, but, according to the Associated Press, he's doing a duet with Elton John.
Face it, kids: like Howard Stern and Jerry Springer, Eminem is just one more party favor in the ongoing celebration of our basest motives. If he weren't a rapper, he'd be a Bad Boy® on "The Real World."
The RIAA has hired former senator Bob Dole to advise it in its legal battle against Napster.
Johnny Cash was admitted to a Nashville hospital for pneumonia, Country Standard Time reported. In 1998, Cash was diagnosed with Shy-Drager Syndrome, but said last October that he was misdiagnosed.
DMX has opted not to begin a 15-day sentence in New York state's Erie County Correctional Facility, but rather to "shoot promotions" for his forthcoming movie "Exit Wounds," MTV.com reported. An arrest warrant reportedly was issued for DMX on Friday (2/9).
