Matthew Sweet set to launch U.S. tour
Matthew Sweet plans to embark on a headlining U.S. club tour on Feb. 19 in his native Nebraska, according to tour organizers. The singer-songwriter is touring behind last year’s compilation album “Time Capsule: The Best of Matthew Sweet 99/00” (Volcano).
Released last September, “Time Capsule” features 16 previously released songs, as well as two new tracks titled “Ready” and “So Far.” Sweet’s most recent album of all-new material is 1999’s “Reverse.”
“Girlfriend,” Sweet’s 1991 album, gained the singer mainstream notoriety. The title track reached No. 10 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart in 1992, and helped the album go on to ship over 500,000 copies, according to the Recording Association of America.
