Australian 'hillbilly' singer Kasey Chambers tours the U.S.

emailAustralian singer-songwriter Kasey Chambers --who Steve Earle has dubbed "the best hillbilly singer I've heard in a long, long time"--opens a 25-date tour on Feb. 21 in Baton Rouge, La.
Chambers' itinerary, which runs though March 30, includes a mix of headlining shows and spots opening for Robert Earl Keen, Junior Brown, Mandy Barnett and Jeb Loy Nichols.
Chambers released "The Captain," her debut solo record produced by her brother Nash Chambers, last October, 18 months after it hit stores in Australia. The 25-year-old penned all of the songs--which layer electric guitar twangs, fiddles and roots-rock percussion--between the ages of 15 and 22.
Chambers will appear on ABC-TV's talk show "The View" on March 1. After the tour, she will head back to her homeland to begin work on a new album.
