Coldplay cancels final dates on U.S. tour due to illness

Coldplay has canceled the remaining dates on its current U.S. outing, and has postponed one aborted date until early April. Two of the groups members have been felled by the flu.

The groups Feb. 16 set at New York Citys Irving Plaza ended after two songs due to frontman Chris Martins and bassist Guy Berrymans bout with the illness. That show has been postponed until April 9, at which time it will take place at New Yorks Roseland Ballroom, according to the groups website. Tickets to the original show will be honored on April 9.

The Feb. 17 performance in Boston was subsequently canceled, but the group plowed through a Feb. 19 performance in Chicago.

It was felt that this gig could be done as a final push, wrote band manager Phil Harvey of the Chicago date in a message posted on the groups official website.

The final two shows on the tour--set for Tuesday night (2/20) at Guvernment in Toronto and Friday night (2/23) at the Hard Rock Caf in Miami--have also been canceled, as the band plans to return to its native England on Tuesday (2/20), according to Harveys message.

Ticket refunds for all three of the canceled shows are available at the point of purchase, according to Coldplays website.

Harveys message indicates that the group is planning an extensive North American outing for May and June.

Coldplays North American tour began on Feb. 8. The Brit-rock quartet was touring in support of its U.S. debut, Parachutes (Nettwerk/Capitol).
