Tesla recharges for second leg of U.S. tour

update: Tesla has announced thirteen new tour dates that will kick off in late March and run through early April. The dates comprise the second leg of the bands current reunion tour, which began on Feb. 16.

The first leg of the tour is scheduled to wrap up on March 3. A break follows before the group takes to the road again for the newly announced second leg on March 23.

The Sacramento-based band--which broke up in 1996--performed its first reunion show last October before a sold-out crowd at its hometown's Arco Arena. The subsequent handful of shows went well enough that the band chose to embark on a full-fledged reunion tour in 2001. Many dates on the first leg of the outing have been sold out, according to the groups publicist. The tour is booked into clubs and theaters.

Tesla is considering recording a new live album or an album of cover songs, according to the groups publicist. The band's 1995 greatest hits compilation, Times Makin Changes: The Best of Tesla (Geffen), was gold-certified last November by the Recording Industry Association of America for shipping 500,000 copies.

More tour dates are expected soon, according to a band press release.
